Summer 2024
Hi Everyone!
I will be delivering another flower add-on this week, to makeup for the week that I missed earlier this season. The flowers are poppin’ and I want to capture them for you! If you have a flower add-on, please check your dropsite for flowers this week.

Reflecting on this week, we were wildly productive! Of course, there’s still a never ending list, but we can celebrate as we check some BIG projects off the list. First and foremost, we harvested all the garlic! This is the most garlic I’ve ever successfully grown, and I will say I feel very proud of the yield. (and the size, it’s huge!) I am so glad I didn’t wait another week, it was very ready to come out of the ground. Our awesome crew busted through the harvest in two hours, leaving lots of time for weeding and plot maintenance for the rest of the day.
We also mowed down old crops, cleaned up some of the hoop houses, and weeded the winter squash. There are some baby spaghetti squash and pumpkins beginning to take shape!

CSA Member Bingo!
Alrighty, the moment you’ve been waiting for, the first CSA member challenge! This one will run until the end of the season, so keep chipping away at your bingo board and try new activities with your CSA box.
Once you complete four of the bingo board activities IN A ROW, you will win a little treat from the Stillwater Farmers market. There’s beautiful beeswax candles, hot sauce, tasty jam, and more at stake!
As you complete activities on the board, mark them off or take a photo to record your progress and email me when you’ve gotten four in a row!
Here is the board. I’ll stick a printed version of the board in your box next week.

In your box….
Here are photos of what you’ll find in your box this week!

Some Inspiration…
This week is a summer dream! The first heirloom tomatoes, onions, big, beautiful beets, broccoli, cucumbers….. the bounty of July has finally arrived!
A note on heirloom tomatoes… I recommend storing your heirloom tomatoes on the counter, they do not last as long in the fridge. Also, if your tomato is still firm, and a little green, just leave it out on your counter for a few days and it will ripen up quickly.
A note on beets and other root veggies… I always recommend separating the roots from the tops with things like beets and carrots. Your roots and your greens will store better in the fridge. Beets can last in the fridge for months if stored at the correct humidity with enough airflow.
I wish you the best of luck in the kitchen this week. I am so excited to see what you create! As always, feel free to send over your recipes. Good luck working through the bingo card! I hope it guides and inspires you.
Soil and sunshine,
Eleanor
